Hi Folks,
If any of you have an instrument that you are not using and would like to sell, bring it to the Dec 21 Folk Circle with a price tag. I want an electric/acoustic classical guitar, but there is no way I can get one if I don't sell something, so I will be bringing several instruments. Maybe you have an instrument that is gathering dust, or maybe you would like to do some Christmas shopping for a musician on your list. Jeff thinks it's a great idea and has given us the go ahead, so bring your stuff or bring your bucks! Lisa |

It might be a good idea to respond to this email with items you didn't sell. There could be people who missed that night would would be interested in selling or buying.
I have a old silvertone steel string guitar from the 1960's that if anybody was interested could have it for free. It needs some restoring. But who knows maybe someone is into it as a collectable. I also have a RENO djembe (in excellent condition) that I would sell - I thinking around $200 or best offer (I'm not sure how much these things are worth now days) |

A free old guitar? If nobody else has asked for it, please save it for me. I teach private guitar and piano lessons and am constantly trying to find instruments for students who can't afford a new one, and because I have been doing this for awhile, I have a tool box full of spare parts, strings, tuning pegs, bridges, all the things necessary for bringing an old-timer out of retirement. Is there anything in particular that you are looking for, because whatever it is, I probably have two of them! Lisa |

Wow Lisa. Great idea. That is a way we can outreach to the local community, especially to youth. Maybe we can do a charity to raise funds for obtaining instruments for some of your students. It would be great if some of them came to the circle with some songs. - Jeff

It would be great if some of them came to the circle with some songs. - Jeff I've been thinking about this, and I'm wondering if, because of our association with the City of Poway, we should direct our attention towards students in Poway. This evening I spoke with a lady who is in charge of an after-school program in Poway called "Kidztyme." They offer a guitar class and the students have to provide their own guitar before they can participate. I asked her if, hypothetically, we had a guitar to donate, would she and the guitar teacher be able to help us in finding a deserving student and she said definitely. I told her I would let her know if we will be doing this or not, I didn't commit to anything at this point. Any thoughts? Also, if we did a charity to raise funds, maybe we could do a charity Folk Music Concert, featuring our Folk Circle people, to raise funds for instruments. Could be fun. What do you think? Lisa |

I'm up for all of it. Several other folks have expressed interested in doing something for the community and a concert of PFC folks. Maybe we can organize a steering committee around this effort.

Sounds like fun...!! I can't help much in the planning right now, but I would like to participate in the event.

Sounds great! I think we could pull this off somewhat easily. It would make it even more attractive to donors if the gift (instrument or $$) was tax deductable. I am very active in a local group called Friends and Family Community Connection (see ffccsd.org) with is a non-profit 501c organization. FFCC is very much into serving the local community (as well as global). I have an "in" with the directors and could most likely have this sponsored through FFCC (if we do the work and doesn't cost them and $$). They have a very big base of connections with the local community, I think this is a very doable thing. Who else is interested? Let's do it!

Hi Folks, I have a small accordion that I would like to sell for $40 if anybody is interested. I will bring it to the Jan 11 Circle and play it. Lisa |
