Poway Folk Circle Message Board › A Standard Songbook for Folk circles

I'm proposing we use Rise Up Singing, large print edition as our standard reference for folk circles. We can still bring other songs and originals. However, we need a way for folks to reference and learn songs so we can more easily sing as a group. The book has it's limitations, most of the songs only come with chords. But the selection and breadth is very good.
I would also like to hear strategies to obtain and distribute these books at a discount. Please express your opinions and experiences with this book. Thanks, Jeff Edited by Jeff Bertino on Dec 22, 2009 4:10 PM |

Hi Folks,
After a little Internet research, I'm convinced that this is would be a good investment. The LARGE PRINT edition is more than regular size, but again, worth the investment and would be easier to share. Most places sell the book for $30 plus $5 shipping The book publisher's website, WWW.SINGOUT.ORG offers the following info: SAVE $5!! Only $24.95 each when you buy direct!! (list price is $29.95) BULK DISCOUNTS: If ordering more than $150.00 of merchandise you can take 20% off your order subtotal. (Box orders, teaching disc sets and other special discounts excluded.) **Group orders of 7 or more would be $19.96 per book** SHIPPING INFORMATION: To U.S.: $5 shipping charge for the first item plus $1.50 for each additional item. Ask about case discounts (30 books) Sounds like we could save some money by ordering as a group. I'll volunteer to coordinate the order. Let me know if anyone finds a better deal. Janice |

I will bring some of my books for folks to look at during Monday's circle. I'll have some Bluegrass jam works also. It would be great if folks could bring their favorites. - jb.

I brought the books and forgot to get them out for folks to look at. Oh well, we all had a good time.
