Sam Hinton Folk Heritage Festival - SDFH

This all day event is at our home location in Old Poway Park.

Be prepared for a great day of folk, traditional, blues, bluegrass, old time, dance, crafts, story telling and fun.

There will be performances, open mic, jams, storytelling and fun for the everyone.

PFC will host the open mic and we're putting together a instrument swap meet also.

We need PFC members to volunteer for this great event - you'll be glad you did!

Tim Day will provide more info at the folk circles on how we can help.

Does anyone know whether we're meeting at a certain spot, then patronizing the festival together?

There will be members sprinkled throughout all the events, so it's just best to show up. I just realized that among so many people, one may not recognize PFC members, but that all right. If you go to the open mic stage, someone from PFC should be there.

NAME TAGS are easy to create by selecting the tabs above marked MORE->PROMOTE->NAME TAGS. Voila! Cut out your own name tag and wear it. If I have time to buy the sticky tags, I will, but I can't promise. Maybe someone has the Avery tags already at their home/office and will volunteer?

Great day in the park. Lot's of variety, something for everyone. The performances, jams and storytelling were a joy to listen to. Roger did a wonderful job of running the open mic. He was encouraging and entertaining! Thanks to everyone for all the hard work that made this event possible and such a success.

A very successful festival. It was great to play the main stage, and see Alan Singer there also. So many folks taking advantage of the open mic, traditional jam, and bluegrass jams. Everything sold at the instrument swap meet. Our own Charles Johnson provided a full day of entertaining story telling. Next year we'll see about adding more food vendors.

The festival gets bigger and better every year. I'm already looking forward to the next one. The jamming drew a big audience. The bluegrass jam is in its second year at the festival and is growing every year and the Irish music session was led by some of San Diego's best Irish session players. The Old Time jam had disappeared from the festival altogether after the death of Ed Cormier several years ago, so it is heartening to see it making a comeback. It has grown from a cohesive group of 4 players 3 years ago, to a surprisingly large group of players on Sat so I agree with Richard that some changes are in order. It is harder to manage with the larger group, even if more fun. The cloggers have worked well before - they only stay for part of the jam time and are an audience pleaser for the short time they are there. Well, we have all year to see if we can find a solution that will please everyone for next time.....

It was a wonderful festival with lots of good music in a beautiful scenic setting. The tents provided needed shade and it was nice you were able to provide adequate chairs. I am already looking forward to next year's festival.
