Country Blues Guitar Workshop with Allen Singer

Come join Allen Singer for an exploration of guitar techniques used in Country and acoustic blues. What is Country Blues? Well, think of Doc, Woody, Norman, Ry, Jesse Fuller, Dylan, Bonnie, Redbone, and many, many others. Confused? Allen is here to help sort it all out. This introduction will lead to a whole new appreciation of American music. This workshop is geared towards intermediate level guitar players. A small donation will be requested.

My workshop will provide you with some musical insights into the blues and it's cousin, the country blues. We'll look at the use of the flat pick, finger picking , the 12 bar blues and ragtime that's built around the I IV V progression. I'll talk about the pentatonic scale, solo lines and use of the 7th chord. We'll talk, play some music together, while we walk down the blues musical highway of discovery.

Thanks Jeff for the opportunity to teach and share some of my blues guitar knowledge with your circle. You've created a special place for all, to experience folk music and it's many musical children.

I had a fine time and will return, when I can.

Best to the Poway Folk Circle and it's pickers.

Allen, Thanks for conducting the country blues workshop. Very informative and useful instruction. Reminds me that I should practice fingerstyle more often. I had a great time! Thanks again - Mike
