How does he get all that air, through that little harmonica and get such a BIG sound? It was great to watch him, he really loves what he is doing and it shows.

Always fun. Thanks to Dane and Paul for helping on "I've got A Secret" and everyone else for the chorus on "If not now".

Jeff is always a personable entertainer and great musician, with interesting stories about the songs he has written. Look on the back of any CD by a San Diego performer and there's a good chance that Jeff Berkley produced it or made a musical contribution. I'm looking forward to the annual "Berkley Where Hart Thou" concert at Poway Performing Arts Center Sept. 22. http://www.powaycenter.com/index.aspx?recordid=8417&page=1336

Had a wonderful time. Janet was right on, as usual. The singing was off the scale with folks picking up the new song melodies with terrific harmonies! We learned songs in several keys--very challenging. Watch the Discussions for a link to the recordings. Can't wait for next month!

Janet is charming, charismatic and a fantastic teacher! Also, thanks Jeff, Patricia and all those who made it possible.

Learning to play an instrument is a process, not an event. While most workshops last 2 to 4 hours, Dane has afforded us a unique opportunity to “have a friend in the business.” Soon after I signed up, he started sending links to informative websites and other materials and he has sent several emails since the class. I probably expected more “hands on” learning during class, however, I quickly became frustrated when we all tried to bend notes at the same time because I couldn’t hear my squeaking harmonica above all the others. So, it’s probably best to practice alone, one note at a time. Dane’s love of the harmonica is contagious. He shared his wealth of info and offered to support the class with any future questions via phone or email. In my book, that’s priceless!

Wow, as a guitar player, I really didn't get all the nuances to playing the harmonica. What an encyclopedic knowledge Dane has. I now understand more of how working with different keys and modes is fundamental to playing this thing. And bending notes at low volume to complete scales, then mixing harmonicas during a song to achieve different feels. Holly Smokers, that's involved. We fretted instrument players are spoiled!!!! The class had a large spread of ability, with most being beginners I think. Reminded me of how hard fiddles are to get just the basics. You really have to spend quality time to feel your way to the notes. Anyway, I was blown away. We'll probably split the workshop into more levels going forward.

A pleasant enough Show and Tell about Harmonicas. Had hoped for more "nuts and bolts" about the mechanics and techniques of actually playing. Worth the price of admission? Hmmm.......

We really enjoyed this new version of the Train song Festival - it was packed! Playing with the Parkside Ramblers in the gazebo was a blast! Dick and Greg are true pros as soundmen. And later - jamming under the shadetree with Rattlesnake Creek was a lot of fun.

I enjoyed it. Great talent, great sound on a beautiful day. I wondered why the seats did not fill like in October. Did changing the date have an effect?

Great festival. I thought shifting the hours to later in the day was a great decision, the crowd seemed to increase as the day got cooler. Plus, it gave Jeff and Mike more suitable lighting

I was thrilled to see the Creekside Ramblers and Rattlesnake Creek OTSB mesmerizing the crowd, and having friends joined in. Very impressive arrangements and play by the Ramblers. And RC was as sweet as ever, although we always miss Lisa when she's gone. You guys are Awesome!!

Another nice afternoon. Played in the side room at the sanctuary. Brought our system and played to a wonderful crowd. Avery Ellisman and Dane Terry join myself, Mike and Rich Rinaldi for a full hour+ show. It was nice. Saw more friends like folding Mr. Lincoln, Alan James, Trails and Rails, Gregory Page, and more. It was a nice time.
