Hi!
I thought I would just throw this out to the circle. My wife (Carol) and I plan to go to the San Diego Folk heritage Contra dance on Friday March 19th. Checkout http://sdfolkheritage... If anybody is interested it would be a blast to go (or meet there) as a group. If you're interested let us know. Thanks, Lance and Carol |

I used to Contra dance in Phoenix and had a great time. Amber, the wonderful thing about Contra dancing is that you don't need a partner. That's all taken care of by the caller. By the end of the dance, everyone has danced with everyone. Count me in!

As well as dancing at the Contra Dance, some of the Poway Folk Circle members also play in the Contra Dance bands, and if you check the website Lance has given, you'll see the Community Band welcomes players to bring their instruments. .
A playlist of the Old Time tunes is provided and there are rehearsals from time to time. You'll be able to hear and play along with some of the musicians at the Old Time jam at the annual Sam Hinton Folk Heritage Festival in Old Poway Park on June 5th. There will also be a Contra Dance in Templars Hall as part of the Festival. Barbara |

..and not to forget the English Country Dance scene. The San Diego English Country Dancers meet each Sunday evening at 6.00pm at:
The Academy of Dance 12227 Poway Road Poway CA 92064 Sort of like Contra with a caller and partner changes but a bit more of the Jane Austen stateliness and bit less yee-har and foot stomping... |
