Folks: We are recommending 1 book for folks circles and 1 book for bluegrass jams.
Parking Lot Picker's Songbook by Dix Bruce. There are several versions with focus on different instruments. Great songs with music, tab, lyrics and CDs demonstrating each tune. For bluegrass tunes, the Bluegrass Fakebook by Bert Casey. Learn the songs, bring the book, teach others. We will try to obtain a few copies for the meetings. However, buying a copy of the appropriate book is highly recommended. There are other sources in the PFC about pages. Thanks, Jeff |

Hi Folks,
It will be great having a standard song book that we can all practice with before we come to the Circle. Our fearless leader, Jeff, chose three songs so we can work on them before we get together for the next folk circle. With a little practice, there’s bound to be some fancy pickin’ when a song gets kicked around and the visitors can sing along. Here’s some additional info about the Parking Lot Pickers Songbook: The book comes with all the songs on two CDs CLICK HERE to see the contents. The list price is $35. I bought mine today through Barnes and Noble online for about $22 plus tax. (Shipping was free. Current promotion entitles everyone to member discounted prices. I used coupon code C7P7D8U - good between now and May 1, 2010 - and that reduced the price another 15%.) I noticed that it comes in several different versions; guitar, fiddle, banjo, dobro, and mandolin. Nothing for autoharp, so I’ll just keep plucking away at “Don't This Road Look Rough And Rocky,” “Jimmie Brown, the News Boy,” and “Keep On The Sunny Side.” See ya in the circle! ![]() Janice Edited by Janice S. on Apr 28, 2010 3:06 PM |
