The one and only David Grier will be performing at Old Time Music this Saturday night, Aug. 28 at 7:30pm. If you've never heard David flatpick the guitar, you have really missed something. He was voted Best Guitar Player of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association several times, and is featured on two Grammy Award-winning albums. When he was a child, he learned to play bluegrass from the true source, Bill Monroe, when his father, Lamar Grier, played banjo with the Bluegrass Boys back in the mid-1960s.
Please visit his website to hear samples of David's smooth flatpicking style. I love "Road to Hope." http://www.davidgrier... Acoustic Guitar magazine's article is worth reading too: http://www.davidgrier... David is a wonderful entertainer and an all-round great guy! Don’t miss this concert, folks! Admission is $18 in advance (highly recommended!), or $20 at the door. David will also be giving a GUITAR WORKSHOP this Saturday from 2-4pm, geared towards intermediate to advanced players. The fee is $50 and space is limited to 12 students, so call OTM and reserve your place in class: 619-280-9035. I'm asking all PFC members to please support this wonderful store and venue. Your patronage is important in keeping these events coming our way! Hope to see and meet other PFC members there--at the workshop and the concert. |
